Race update Tierp Arena 12-13 May 2012

Back for some track testing and my new C1 licens.

We started out with a easy 1 gear run to check out logs and let “Ärtan” do some tuning and got back to Q2. Here i was supposed to do a 201m run but i held down to 402m. Went a 7,84/293km/h 1.14 60-foot. Converter felt loose and it was only on 0,85 bar.

On third run we gave it a little more boost and lost traction. Converter now stalled over 7500…

In E1 i lost against Kristian Adeens volvo with a 0.017 redlight.

We need to do a stator change and get my injectors to Moran motorsports for service. My 1680cc injectors is near 90% duty now.

New EFI and ignition.

I have been running AEM:s Ecu since 2006 and always been missfiring. Latetly around 7350Rpms and up.  My team and i have been changing trigger setups more often than underwear and have several setups in the dump bin.

After several years i bought a AEM EPM-module with 2 optical hall sensors for cam&crank trigger. It works awesome. After that we had timing issues instead and we have been trying several systems like DIS4, MSD 6, 7, 8, 10, digital 7 and the list goes on long… I have over 10 different coils on my list of “non-problem”-solvers.

My brother has spent 100+ hours trying to find errors in my setup. Countless threads on support forums, guys with oscilloscopes and more…

Today it was time to take it to the next level! And the guy @ Mekonomoen Vårby made it possible. Thanks alot!

I will send my car to Pure-performance´s shop in avesta to let Andreas Arthurson mount in a new Vipec v88 system with 8 methanol capable coils. He will wire it in and do the mapping for starters. With his knowledge im convinced that 6 second times will be possible this year and that maybe Murphy has left the building.

Thanks alot to Mekonomen Vårby and PPF for your support!

Intercooler build

I wanted to cool my intake charge and sent my car to Johan “lillis” Samuelsson for my updates. “lillis” took care of everything and after 1,5 week the car was ready for rumble again.

The intercooler is a Precision PT2400 welded into a ice/water tank. We ran out of Vbands but i bought some more for next upgrade.

Have a look in the gallery!

Safer than ever…

Had to upgrade my car for this seasons rules. So i added new seat insert, 20Lbs fire system, IPS-paddning for funnycar cage and a kevlar diaper.

I spend more money on safety every year than i put in my engine…

I remember times when Sex was safe and Racing was dangerous. 😉

Race update Kjula 17-18 september

After Tallhed we made som upgrades on springs and put on a new cold air intake duct. Thought that it would help to get lower IAT:s

Tryed with 3 different boost settings but no luck with either. Goes the same speed with 11 psi as 20.  Engine misses alot when we go higher. We will change some in our Ignition/Ecu setup to next race and we will come back faster.

Best 60-foot this event was 1.08, 7.70 ET with 175mph.

New racebus

Me and my girl bought this transportation for her shoes and my racecar. Thats why its so large.

On the track again! Tallhed 3-4 sept 2011

At last, its been a long summer of problems hunting me and my teammates. I lost one of the most importent Teammates and gained another. But its been mostly time spent alone in the garage lately.

On Tallhed we had a new built engine, Still 516 CUI but with upgraded Venolia rods, Larger BB2 extra brodix heads, new jesel valvetrain.

Neal chance provided me with a new stator that worked better than the last one. The Tranny was serviced with a new tailshaft bearing after 3 runs 1/16 runs.

I also mounted on  a fresh set of Hoosier 34.5 slicks. (lots of bolts on a converter/wheel ;))

We went our first 400m pass with the car and then started to add small things. (the passes below are these that gained something. We did 12 passes total)

8.34/254 (6000 rpms shifts 2 psi off line 4400 Transbrake 8 psi total)
8.11/265 (6500 rpms shifts 2 psi off line 4400 Transbrake 8 psi total)
7.99/284 (7000 rpms shifts 4 psi off line 4600 Transbrake 8psi total)
7.65/299 (7200 rpms shifts 6 psi off line 5000 Transbrake  8psi total)
7.63/303 (7500 rprms shifts 8 psi off line 5400 Transbrake 11psi total)
7.58/306 (7800 rpms shifts 8 psi off line 5600 Transbrake 18psi total)

On the last two passes i gained more and more heat in my intake and start spinning the tires oout of the hole. So we have to do some minor change and well get back again. Kjula next weekend will be our next stop before Tierps end of season race.

Broken and broke!

After our race in Söderhamn we was sure that Tierp Arena in late july will provide us with some good track times. Why? New comp turbos in place, a new updated stator from Neal chance and fresh tires. There was only warmups left to do before loading the trailer. But i wanted to do some services on the engine at home. New oil/filter sparkplugs, leakdown and lash. When changing my oil i alwasy split the pan and we found some larges problems. A rod and bearing was broken and the crank needed a grind.

So i took the crank/rods/pistons to Värmdö motorteknik for the job. But there was no way to use the broken rod again so i gave them free hands to fix the crank and re-balance it for my venolia aluminum rods.

Then it took quite a while for my freight company to deliver new bearings and other stuff from Mike lewis in Usa. He managed to get me all the stuff needed in 2 days and sent me it with a 1-3 day shipping. It took 2 weeks! To bad. I started to assemble everything this week but found problems on the new heads i bought. The springs have  a to large outer diameter so they hit my rockers.

Bolted on my usual canfields instead and took a leakdown to check everything but they leaked alot on some intakes. So they are off again and will be delivered to a shop for service.

I hope to get out and do some racing soon. But this year has been nothing but sad!

On the track again!

Our car was raceready last week but there was no races to go to. So we decided to go to Söderhamn for 1/8 test&tune this saturday.

We had a new Transmission , Driveshaft with 1480 joints, new fabricated wishbone and driveshaft safety items on rear end and in car.

I also had a discussion with Neal chance for a stator change and we had the new stator in for this test&tune.

The first two runs were made with no boost of the line and i found no grip at all. The converter felt very loose even on 13 psi. For run #3 i tested to build boost and when i left the starting line i was on my shiftlight. The converter stalled 7800 rpms. ;(

So we are going back to our old stator and will be testing again 29-30 july @ Tierp Arena.
